OpenShipData Platform

Our OpenShipData platform is a way to connect to all ships sailing worldwide (without our coverage). The online API we offer connects to this platform to be able to fetch specific geospatial ship data.

You can try it out yourself by going here and find another ship:

https://ais.marineplan.com/location/2/ship.html?language=EN&links=true&ship=244045895

What we offer

The API offers access to about 100,000 ships worldwide, collected by VHF receivers around the globe. In addition, boating apps also supply their data. This data is merged and stored online. It is refreshed every minute.

The data includes the ship location, its name, the MMSI number, the IMO number (if available), the speed, dimensions, and in some cases the destination and ETA of the ship. Where available, we also provide the call sign and country of registration.

Our customers

Typical customers are local authorities, safety services, universities and small hobby projects. To obtain an API key for evaluation, please send us message at info@marineplan.com.

For students and university projects we provide a short-lived API key. The conditions for this are: no commercial projects, and the project should mention MarinePlan on its website or presentation. Before requesting a key, please check the world coverage, as black spots may appear in specific areas.
